About Flamingo Gardens

Originally established as a citrus orchard in 1927, Flamingo Gardens is one of the oldest botanical gardens and attractions in South Florida. Today, this 60-acre not-for-profit botanical garden and wildlife sanctuary preserves the natural and cultural heritage of the Everglades. The lush grounds feature over 3,000 species of rare and exotic tropical plants, including Florida’s largest collection of "Champion Trees" (the largest recorded trees of their species).

Tucked within the gardens is the Everglades Wildlife Sanctuary, which provides a safe, permanent home for the largest collection of rescued and non-releasable Florida native wildlife in the state - including panthers, bobcats, alligators, eagles, and its namesake flamingos. Visitors can also step back in time at the historic 1930s Wray Home Museum to experience early pioneer life in South Florida.
